Arrival
You must schedule to arrive 5 days prior to the first day of classes.
When you start making flight arrangements, the arrival airport is RDU (Raleigh/Durham International Airport). There are international direct flight options (London, Frankfurt, Paris, Mexico City, Reijkavik, Panama City). Check all destinations
The RDU airport is located ~ 20 minutes from Chapel Hill (depending on arrival time and traffic). Uber and Lyft are available outside of arrival gates.
Arriving somewhere else? How to get to Chapel Hill?
Do not fly to Charlotte as your final destination. Do not expect an easy transfer to Chapel Hill from there, unless you booked a one-way flight from Charlotte to RDU. Public transportation, like trains, buses are not reliable and efficient.
If you want to fly to New York, Washington, Boston as flights are cheaper, you can look into Amtrak (train) to Durham Station (not Raleigh), or Mega Bus to Durham Station. I would not recommend the bus option, though, it is not the best experience.
Moving In
If you were lucky and got a room in the Baity Hill Community, please be aware of their arrival details in the lease agreement. Same as with other offices, if you arrive after hours you should get a hotel, or you can request a friend, who arrived earlier, to pick up your key. For this I will need a letter from you detailing this, granting permission to pick-up your key.
Orientation
Orientation is mandatory. if you need to miss it, please seek approval. In person orientation only, usually on Thursday/Friday prior to the first day of classes. A detailed schedule will be send 2 weeks prior to the program start date.
- Spring Exchange Orientation Mod III will be on JANUARY 3 and 4. Classes start on January 6.
- Mod IV orientation TBD.
